A program tag on each item keeps funder stock and private stock as separate lines with separate counts. VFC drafts only carry VFC items.
Lots and expiration on every dose
Receive by lot with its expiration date. A weekly email lists everything inside its alert window, and the first-expiring lot is drawn first.
A clock on every opened multi-dose vial
Opened on Tuesday, tracked for its labeled window, counted down by the dose, closed by itself when the last dose is drawn. Leftover doses on the discard date are recorded as waste.
Draft orders per office, or one from the hub
An office that orders its own VFC generates its own draft from its own alert levels. The hub generates one order per supplier for private stock and supplies across every office. Send to the vendor or to whoever enters the order.

The barcode on a vaccine carton carries the product, the lot, and the expiration date. Scan it with a phone or a 2D scanner: the product is found, the lot and date are filled in, and one tap receives it into the office. No typing a lot number off a label.
It does not log refrigerator temperature; your data loggers do that, and MedRestock tells you which lots were in the fridge when they say something happened. It does not talk to your state immunization registry; VFC ordering and dose reporting stay there. Does MedRestock keep VFC vaccine separate from private stock?⌄
Yes. Each vaccine can carry a program tag (VFC, Private, 317, or a grant), so the same product is two lines with two counts, and a draft order for VFC items never contains private ones. The tag shows on the item, on the scanner, and on every order.
Can each office order its own vaccine?⌄
Yes. Draft orders can be generated for one office at a time from that office's alert levels, grouped by supplier and program. Send them to the vendor, or to the person who enters orders in your state portal. The main office can generate one consolidated order for private stock and supplies across all offices.
Does it track multi-dose vials?⌄
An opened multi-dose vial gets its own clock from the moment it is opened, counts the doses drawn against it, and closes itself when the last dose goes. A vial discarded with doses left is recorded as waste with a reason: expired, broken, drawn but not administered, storage failure.
Can it read the barcode on a vaccine box?⌄
Yes. The 2D barcode on a vaccine carton carries the product, lot, and expiration. Scanning it with a phone camera or a 2D scanner finds the product and offers to receive that lot with the expiration date filled in.
Does it log fridge temperatures or report to the state immunization registry?⌄
No, and we say so plainly. Temperature belongs to your data loggers. Dose reporting and VFC ordering stay in your state's system. MedRestock is the physical count, the clock on every opened vial, the lot and expiration record, the wastage record, and the reorder on the private side.
Can an office manager run just their office?⌄
Yes. A manager assigned to an office sees and runs that office: counts, alert levels, receiving, vials, their own drafts, and inviting their own staff. Products, suppliers, and settings shared by every office are changed by the department. The director sees all offices.
